Ionic liquids are a class of nonmolecular ionic solvents with low melting points. These liquids are unique combinations of cations and anions and can provide a variety of different selectivities when used as stationary phases in capillary gas chromatography. These phases will provide unique selectivity for the evaluation of a variety of different samples including petrochemical, environmental and food and beverage.

Recent developments with ionic liquid stationary phases have targeted the development of specially prepared and tested columns for applications in the industrial and chemical market, environmental, petrochemical and food and beverage markets arenas. Improvements have also been made to enhance the inertness of the most unique selectivity ionic phases to allow improved performance for the analysis of various active compounds. This presentation will discuss the performance of the Watercol series, SLB-ILPAH, SLB-ILD3606, 200 meter FAME column, and the improved inertness SLB-IL (i-series) of capillary columns.

By viewing this presentation you will learn about...

  • new developments in ionic liquid columns (including Watercol - ionic liquid columns for water analysis; and "i" series - improved inertness ionic liquid columns)
  • specially prepared and tested columns for PAH, ASTM D3606 and FAME analysis
