obtained her MSc in 2000 and PhD in 2005 in Chemistry at Ghent University, Belgium. Until now, she has continued carrying out scientific research as a post-doctoral fellow at the same university, in the ‘Atomic and Mass Spectrometry’ Research Group led by Professor Frank Vanhaecke. Her main experience and research interests are in the determination, speciation and isotopic analysis of trace elements by means of different types of ICP-MS instrumentation (often coupled to alternative introduction systems, such as graphite furnace (ETV), laser ablation (LA) or chromatographic separation techniques (HPLC)). Nowadays, specific topics of research include the development of analytical methods for ultra-trace determination by means of ICP-tandem mass spectrometry and of speciation strategies based on HPLC-ICP-MS for ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion) studies in cooperation with the pharmaceutical industry. Her work has resulted in 50 papers in international journals, two book chapters and several contributions on (inter)national conferences.
